Tre Jones makes his college decision.

Duke basketball picked up a 5 star point guard for the class of 2018 and the name might sound familiar.  Tre Jones is the younger brother of former Blue Devil point guard Tyus Jones.   Jones announced via Twitter.

Duke will have the top point guard in the class of 2017 making his debut this upcoming season in Trevon Duval.  That said, the thought of a Duval and Jones backcourt seems as likely as that Winslow, Okafor, and Parker frontcourt that never happened.   Regardless of what might or might not happen, Tre Jones is a big pickup for Duke.

What recruit is next?

Duke may be getting more big news as the top player in the class of 2018 2017 is making his decision today.   Marvin Bagley III was originally a member of the class of 2018, but sources say he wants to reclassify and that Duke may be his destination of choice.  Bagley announces tonight at 11 PM on ESPN.  He is also considering USC and UCLA.

Coach K has successful surgery

Duke recently canceled their trip to the Dominican Republic so that Coach K could have knee replacement surgery.  That surgery took place over the weekend and was, by all accounts, a success.

“The surgery went very smoothly,” Dr. Bolognesi said. “Coach is already in the recovery room and he is in good spirits. We hope that we will be able to get him up and walking as early as this afternoon.”

It was definitely an interesting weekend when Coach K having knee surgery is the 3rd most interesting note.
