Projected Statistics (Returning Players Only)Explanation of Statistic Projections
Things to WatchThis will be an interesting year for Boston College. After a season in which the Eagles went 16-16 and 6-10 in the ACC, Al Skinner was let go after interviewing for another job, and in steps Steve Donahue, who became a household name last year after taking Cornell to the Sweet Sixteen. He does have some talent back, but not a lot of depth. The most significant loss for the Eagles is Rakim Sanders, who decided to transfer in the off season. Because of that, there will be a lot of pressure put on senior Biko Paris and junior Reggie Jackson. Paris averaged 4.8 points last year, and will need to improve on that considerably. He did do a good job of passing though, averaging 4.1 assists. Jackson is a jack of all trades player. He can score, rebound, pass, and wipe off the court when needed. Jackson's one big flaw from last season was his three point shooting. While he was second on the team in attempts, he only shot 28% from three point range. Backing them up will be Dallas Elmore, a junior who averaged just under 4.0 points per game. Also expected to see some time are two freshmen. Gabriel Moton will need to learn on the job very quickly to adjust to ACC play. Danny Rubin was originally going to walk on at Colgate, but decided to play at BC, and will log a few minutes here and there. A third team All-ACC player last season, Joe Trapani is one of the most versatile shooters in the ACC. He can post up, he can step back and hit a jumper, and can hit some threes. Trapani shot 35% last season from three point range. Along side Trapani is senior Corey Raji, who averaged 11.4 points and 5.8 rebounds last year. He is a bit undersized for a forward at 6-6, but is a very rugged player. At center will be Josh Southern. The senior is more of a defensive presence, and won't be relied upon to score a lot. The top backup among the big men is junior Courtney Dunn. Dunn, like Southern, isn't much of a scoring threat, and is in more for defensive purposes. The first real test for BC will be November 25, when they take on Texas A&M. The Eagles will host Indiana in the ACC-Big 10 Challenge, and will also host Providence. The Eagles will also travel to UMass, Rhode Island, and South Carolina in the non conference. In ACC play, they have home and away games with UNC and Virginia Tech, but travel to Duke. The key to the Eagles season is developing some depth. They have a nice starting five, but they can not afford injuries. The Eagles also need to improve on their three point shooting. BC was 10th in the ACC in that department. This will be a bit of a down year for the Eagles, but watching Trapani and Jackson work their magic will be a lot of fun this season. by Will Ojanen Fantasy Player to WatchReggie Jackson is a versatile player that should see his scoring approach 15 points per game this season. Jackson will likely be the primary playmaker and should maintain averages close to 5 assists and 5 rebounds per game. Such production makes Jackson a top 10 ACC fantasy player.
