Maryland won their second exhibition defeating the Commonwealth Giants 97-90. Seth Allen led the Terps with 26 points and 10 assists in the win.
Maryland’s three-game summer tour in the Bahamas this week was important for many players on Mark Turgeon’s young team, but particularly in the evolution of sophomore Seth Allen as a major college point guard.
While the competition isn’t what the Terps will face in the ACC -- or for some of Maryland’s nonconference opponents -- Allen’s 26-point, 10-assist performance in Wednesday’s 97-90 over a team called the Commonwealth Giants provided a glimpse of what he is capable of doing next season.
Allen was 9 of 10 from the field, and made all five of his 3-point shots, according to a Maryland athletic department spokesman. The Terps played without two potential starters, junior swingman Dez Wells and sophomore center Shaquille Cleare.
Turgeon said that he kept Wells on the bench as a precautionary measure for a sore knee. Cleare, who is from the Bahamas, has been nursing a sore back for about a month.
