The numbers largely tilt in UNC's favor with two notable exceptions. FGCU is an excellent defensive rebounding team ranked 59th overall in DRB%. The Eagles also limit teams to just 31.1% shooting as a team from three. Outside of those two the rest of the stats are fairly pedestrian. The offensive and defensive efficiency numbers straddle are right at the national average. FGCU is also one of the worst free throw shooting teams in the country hitting just 64,3% as a team.
FGCU also takes fewer threes than even UNC. The Eagles 3PA% is just 24.9 which is 340th nationally. In that respect three point shooting is not major concern. FGCU has one player, Zach Johnson, who is shooting 41% from three but did so on just 60 attempts in 35 games. The team's most prolific shooter in terms of attempts is Christian Terrell with 114 attempts hitting just 33% of those.
It is important to note that FGCU played a total of three games all season against the KenPom top 100. Texas A&M at 19th is the highest rated team the Eagles have faced followed by #37 Florida and #77 South Dakota St.. UNC will be the first top 100 team FGCU has seen since December 19th. Out of 35 games only ten opponents were ranked in the KenPom top 200 and four of them were Division II. In short, this is a 21-14 team with the 306th ranked SOS. That seems not good.
