TCU could be close to deal with Pitt coach Jamie Dixon

On Sunday, CBS Sports' Gary Parrish wrote that Pitt head coach Jamie Dixon was considering an offer from TCU. That set off nearly a full day of speculation from both sides and, as you might expect, Pitt fans have been somewhat split on the idea of keeping Dixon vs. letting him leave. Nothing has officially been reported just yet, but it sounds like something could be happening shortly.

According to the Fort Worth Star Telegram, Dixon and TCU could be closing in on a deal. Soon, in fact:

Sources close to the discussions indicated Sunday night that the sides were closing in on a deal and that Dixon was trying to assemble a staff with Texas ties. An announcement could come Monday or Tuesday, one person close to the TCU program said.

Again, we still don't know just how close a deal is. Twitter is full of comments from seemingly knowledgeable people that believe it will or won't happen and there's all kinds of guesswork/assumptions being made right now.

But if the sources are true, then we might even see something happen relatively soon. Jim's early coaching candidate list might come in handy very soon.

Monday could be a very interesting day for the program either way.
