There were 3 games in the ACC last night, highlighted by Maryland and Miami playing a double overtime game. The Terrapins and Hurricanes combined to shoot 56 three point shots in the matchup. Two out of every five shots taken in the game were a three point shot. If that isn't a sign of what college basketball has become, I don't know what is. The Hurricanes were playing without Kenny Kadji who suffered a head injury in practice on Tuesday. Miami ended up taking care of their homecourt to move to 13-7 and 4-3 in the conference and all of a sudden it appears Miami has turned a corner.
Last night FSU got a scare from Georgia Tech, but the Seminoles did enough to win 68-54 and move to 6-1 in conference play. The Yellow Jackets were playing without Glen Rice Jr who has turf toe. Rice had been limping the last two games.
NC State also picked up a win, defeating Boston College 56-51 in Chestnut Hill.
Tonight, Duke travels to Virginia Tech in a game that should be a tough one for the Blue Devils. Game Sim likes the Hokies in this one, while Pomeroy has Duke winning a close one. Two things to watch, does Duke have a defensive answer for Erick Green? Also, can the Hokies defend the 3 point shot? If both of those items go in Virginia Tech's favor, the Hokies will win this game.
