Jordan Cornish is a 2014 guard who initially committed to Tennessee and Coach Cuonzo Martin, but after Martin's move to Cal, Cornish received a release from his NLI and has reopened his recruitment. After his release, Cornish received a lot of offers, including one from Danny Manning and Wake Forest. Along with Wake Forest, Cornish has gotten interest from SMU, UCLA, Nebraska and FSU. It is clear that Manning is looking for a guard to fill out his 2014 class, with interest in Cornish and Mitchell Wilbekin. Jordan Cornish could definitely be the guy that Danny Manning brings in and he would bring a very talented player to Wake Forest.
Cornish is a very talented guard with the ability to have a huge impact at Wake Forest. He described himself as "a big guard at 6'6" who can play all three backcourt positions. I can stretch the floor and shoot it from deep. I am an all around scorer, who is tough and plays with a lot of passion." His flexibility would be extremely valuable to Manning and he would provide great depth. That along with his great scoring ability makes him a very valuable player.
Manning initially recruited Cornish at Tulsa, with Cornish saying Manning recruited him "very hard!" Although Manning failed to gain a commitment from Cornish, there was definite interest between the two. That has picked up since Manning's move and Cornish's decommitment. Cornish described their interactions since his release: "As soon as I got my release, Manning called my mentor. He wants me at Wake Forest!"
Cornish always respected Manning as a coach, but the move to Wake Forest definitely make him more attractive. His biggest selling points to Cornish are "I can play right away, come in and make an immediate impact. Wake Forest is also a very storied program and in a great conference."
When asked if Wake Forest is a serious contender for him, Cornish said "Most definitely!"
With Wake Forest not being a school that recruited Cornish before, a visit is important. When asked about a potential visit, Cornish responded "That's the plan! I'm just trying to set a good date." This visit is crucial for a potential commitment from Cornish. If all goes well, Cornish could be a Demon Deacon in the fall.
Jordan Cornish finished with a message for Wake Forest fans: "If this is my landing spot, you are getting a guy that will put it all on the line day in and day out."
