The 2022 ACC Kickoff for the football season began with an hour-long press conference from ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips. Throughout the press conference, Phillips expressed his belief that keeping things competitive across the NCAA landscape is what is best for college sports. He also spoke of the importance of making sure people think about what is best for college sports as a whole moving forward rather than an individual team and conference. He also stressed the importance of college sports maintaining focus on Olympic sports and not just focusing everything on the two main revenue sports.
