Another game in which the Cardinals took care of business before marching on in to the heart of the ACC slate.
The Louisville Cardinals took care of business Saturday afternoon in Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium against Murray State. After a tough week for the school and Cardinal fans, there was a need for a game to get everyone’s mind off all of the drama that transpired over the past week for a few hours, and Lamar Jackson and the offense was able to do just that.
The Cardinals got off to a fast start on offense, and Louisville had a 35-3 lead heading in to halftime (there was the possibility of adding more points to the scoreboard, but freshman receiver Corey Reed lost a fumble after hauling in a big catch right before half). Lamar completed 18 of 26 passes for 249 yards and three touchdowns to zero interceptions while adding 100 yards rushing on seven attempts and recording another rushing touchdown.
We had another Puma sighting today, as redshirt freshman Jawon Pass took over on offense for Lamar Jackson to begin the second half. Pass did turn the ball over to Murray State after losing a fumble on the first play of the half where the Racers were able to return it for their lone touchdown on the day. However, he was able to bounce back and show why he was such a highly-recruited player a couple of years ago. He recorded his first touchdown as a Louisville Cardinal, tossing a 14-yard touchdown pass to Javonte Bagley. On the day, Pass completed 14 of 19 passes for 115 yards with one passing touchdown and rushed for 36 yards and a touchdown on nine attempts.
Enjoy and appreciate Jackson while he’s still a Cardinal, but rest easy in that the future of quarterbacking for Louisville is in good hands.
One injury that we’ll want to keep an eye on as the week progresses is that of freshman running back Colin Wilson. Wilson suffered what looked to be an ankle injury late in the third quarter as he was hit going out of bounds. He was later seen being carted in to the locker room after spending some time in the medical tent. Best of luck to Wilson on a speedy recovery, we definitely need the talented young man.
Also of note, Lamar Jackson continues to set new records for the program.
Lamar Jackson just set a new Louisville program record for points responsible for after that TD pass. He has accounted for 542 points.

He’s also getting close to setting some more.

I wasn’t able to catch it on the live stream, but the men’s basketball team was introduced at halftime and received a much-deserved show of support.
Easily the biggest reaction of the day at PJCS comes when the men's basketball team is introduced.

Can’t help but feel for those guys.
The Cardinals have a short week coming up as they’ll head to Raleigh, North Carolina, for a Thursday night game against the NC State Wolfpack.
