Do you know how many teams are in the ACC?
If you answered 15, that’s correct.
Do you know where CBS picked the Syracuse Orange basketball team to finish in said ACC this season?
Of course you do, because you read the title. That’s not a typo — CBS picked Syracuse to finish third from Pitt last in the ACC for the upcoming basketball season.
Not going to name names, but first let me start by saying I understand where Matt Norlander is coming from. Syracuse returns only two of its top seven scorers and two of its three assistant coaches from a team that failed to make the NCAA Tournament and will boast one of its youngest rosters ever. So I get it. There isn’t much reason for optimism.
But I will say this: I have a better chance of seeing God today than Clemson and NC State finishing ahead of Syracuse in the ACC this season. Kevin Keatts is in his first year at NC State and Clemson will probably find a way to lose 81745023 close games with Brad Brownell on the hot seat.
Anyway, you can check out the list here and of course, there are no qualms about Florida State, Boston College and Pitt being predicted to finish below Syracuse.
Personally, I think Jim finds a way to finish in the top 9 of the ACC in a rebuild year in which the Orange finds itself on the bubble for a third straight season.
