Orange don't have enough to upset Blue Devils.
Saturday's 73-54 loss to the Duke Blue Devils may not get Tobacco Row all pumped up to include the Syracuse Orange as a rival, but, hey, not every game can be a classic. (And not ever "rivalry game" will have hype.)
That was the case at Cameron Indoor Stadium tonight, as No. 4 Duke (26-3, 13-3 ACC) cruised to win over a outmanned, outgunned Orange (18-11, 9-7), who lost their third straight contest against their Atlantic Coast Conference foes.
The overall story of the game was simple, Duke made 47.5% of its shots from the floor and eight 3-pointers, while Syracuse made just 30.6% of its field goals and had no notable performance to propel them to an upset. Justise Winslow scored a game-high 23 points for Duke, while Rakeem Christmas netted 11 points and Trevor Cooney scored 13.
The Blue Devils easily went on to win their ninth straight game, their 12th in their last 13, while the Orange will move onto Monday, which features a showdown with No. 2-ranked Virginia Cavaliers at home.
Talk about the loss if you'd want. I am just going to have a few more beers and move on quickly.
