When the idea of charity exhibition games came out this season, it was met from all sides as something positive that should continue. Of course, that is until an injury occurs. That happened to Georgia Tech on Saturday as they faced Georgia State in an exhibition.
Sophomore Josh Okogie had an open dislocation of his left index finger during the game and should be out for some time. The open dislocation means that there was a break in the skin, so not a pretty injury.
“We’ll just have to wait till the doctors to come back (with a diagnosis), but he could be out for a while,” Pastner said. “We just don’t know yet.”
“If we don’t have Josh for a while, we’ll just have to deal with it, and next man’s got to step up and just get the job done,” Pastner said. “No one wants to hear any excuses about it. I love Josh, and he’s an unbelievable man, so I hate it for him.”
According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Okogie wasn't the only Georgia Tech player injured in the game.
Okogie was not the only Tech player to suffer an injury in the game. Graduate transfer guard Brandon Alston sprained his MCL, becoming the second player in less than two weeks to incur that injury, following forward Sylvester Ogbonda.
Georgia Tech is back on the court in another exhibition against Faulkner on November 2nd.
