The Governor’s Cup Series isn’t going anywhere ... in case you were worried.
Louisville and Kentucky will continue to face one another in football for at least the next six seasons. This according to a copy of the contract between the schools obtained by The Courier-Journal.
The game will continue to be played on the final Saturday of the regular season, meaning the dates for the next six games between the two rivals are:
Nov. 25, 2017 in Lexington
Nov. 24, 2018 in Louisville
Nov. 30, 2019 in Lexington
Nov. 28, 2020 in Louisville
Nov. 27, 2021 in Lexington
Nov. 26, 2022 in Louisville
I would still prefer to see this as the first game of the season, but I’m also seeing more of the pros of having it on Thanksgiving weekend. If we lose again this year, then that will change.
Louisville leads the series with Kentucky, nine billion to one. Look it up.
