Simms showed that he was going to have a good game early on, knocking down two early three-pointers and scoring Clemson's first eight points of the game. It was a back-and-forth affair, and the Hurricanes led by two at halftime, but the Tigers outlasted the Canes in the end. Simms finished the game with 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting and added 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks in the win. Isaiah Wong led Miami with 13 points in a losing effort.
