The SMU Mustangs improved to 7-1 with an overtime victory at Duke, 28-27. The Blue Devils forced 6 turnovers, but missed a field goal and an extra point and had a game-winning field goal attempt blocked at the end of regulation. After scoring a touchdown in overtime, Duke went for the 2-point conversion and the win and came up just short with an incomplete pass. SMU was led by running back Brashard Smith who rushed for 117 yards and 2 touchdowns, and by wide receiver Roderick Daniels Jr. who caught an 81-yard touchdown reception and had 153 yards receiving for the Mustangs. Duke quarterback Maalik Murphy threw for 295 yards and 3 touchdowns and wide receiver Eli Pancol caught 11 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown in the loss.
