Notre Dame snaps a seven-game slide with win over BC
Despite the efforts from Jerome Robinson, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish were able to hold off Boston College on Tuesday night, defeating the Eagles 96-85. The Irish jumped out to 28-18 lead to start the game, and eventually went into the half leading 47-48. T.J. Gibbs had a monster first half, as he paced the Irish with 22 points, capping it all off with a buzzer beater to end the half.
The Irish started the second half on a 9-2 run, upping there lead to 56-40. It looked like it would be all Irish from there on out, as they stretched their lead to 60-42. BC’s Robinson would not be denied as he poured in 28 of his game high 46 points in the second half. He led the charge, as the Eagles would get it as close to 70-68. They would never be able to get over the hump though, as the Irish would outscore the Eagles 26-17 over the games final minutes to secure the win.
Gibbs led the Irish with a career-high 28 points on 8-11 shooting. The Irish also had four others in double figures; Matt Farrell (19), Martinas Geben (16), John Mooney (16), Rex Pflueger (13).
The Irish now improve to 14-10 on the year and 4-7 in ACC play. They’ll be back in action on Saturday when they host a talented and deep Florida State team at 4:00 PM ET.
