Game Recap

On Thursday night, Boston College got into the win column with a home win over Clemson 59-57.  After trouncing FSU at home over the weekend, Brad Brownell has to be scratching his head at the road loss at Boston College.  It's just another example of the difficulty in winning road games in the ACC regardless of the opponent.

In the late game, Duke held on to defeat Virginia 61-58 with the Cavaliers getting two chances on the final possession to send the game to overtime.  Mike Scott was brilliant for Virginia, scoring 23 points and grabbing 9 rebounds, and carrying Virginia to a 32-28 first half lead.  Scott scored exactly half of Virginia's points in the first half.  The story in the second half for Duke was defense.  Duke did a better job of defense on Scott, his points only coming on offensive rebounds for the most part, and simply playing at a higher level.  A number of Duke players stepped up and made plays for the Blue Devils.

After 2 games for all of the ACC teams, the standings look pretty much as expected.  Duke and UNC at 2-0 at the top, a bunch of teams in the middle, and 2 teams at the bottom at 0-2.  The surprising things is that the two teams at the bottom are Miami and Virginia Tech.  This is largely due to matchups and should work itself out as the season progresses.
