With the big news, Tony Bennett joins Mike Krzyzewski, Roy Williams, Rick Pitino, and Jim Boeheim in the distinguished group of Hall of Famers coaching men’s basketball at ACC institutions. Everyone knew it was just a matter of time.
OK, so it’s just the Summit League. There is, however, nothing wrong with the company of Bryce and Homer Drew where college hoops are concerned.
Bennett was the league’s Player of the Year as a senior and played for the Charlotte Hornets before finishing his career overseas and moving into coaching, where his excellence would eventually become the one thing on Twitter that (just about) every Virginia fan agrees on. He still holds the NCAA record for career three-point percentage (49.7%).
