Well I’ll be a monkey’s uncle.
Nate Roberts, a class of 2018 target out of Brewster Academy, officially made his college decision. The 6-foot-9 forward announced that he will attend Washington next fall.

“Coach Hop and I have a great relationship and he has been a believer in me as a player and person since my recruiting has taken off and now that he’s the captain of the ship, it makes things a lot better when the head coach is on your side,” Roberts said.
Roberts chose Washington over Nebraska and Syracuse. The three-star forward is from Bel Air and formerly ran with Team Melo on the AAU circuit, so his commitment comes as a bit of a surprise despite Hop being his primary recruiter when he was at Syracuse. He’ll finish his high school career playing alongside Buddy Boeheim at Brewster. Roberts, along with Buddy, visited Syracuse last weekend and watched the Orange take down Clemson on Friday night but that still wasn’t enough to get Roberts in Orange.
With Roberts out of the picture Syracuse still figures to have an open scholarship for one more member of the 2018 class. You’d have to think the staff will reheat its relationship with 2018 big man Dimon Carrigan.
The Syracuse basketball team will unofficially get things started on Friday with Orange Madness an inter-squad scrimmage. The team is just 15 days away from its first official scrimmage of the season against Southern New Hampshire.
