The news from earlier in the day regarding the departure of associate head coach for defense Vic Koenning appears to not have impacted recruiting UNC got a pair of key recruits firming up plans for enrollment in January.
William Sweet is a 6-7, 275 lb offensive tackle from Jacksonville, FL. Sweet is a four star recruit ranked 22nd at his position and 234th overall by Scout.com. Sweet received numerous offers from elite programs including Florida State, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Tennessee and Nebraska as well as ACC schools Louisville, Miami, Virginia and Wake Forest.
In addition to Sweet, UNC had three start linebacker Andre Smith, also from Jacksonville, FL, sign for early enrollment. Smith, a 6-0, 220 lb player is ranked 28th at middle linebacker by Scout.com and had a handful of offers from Power 5 conference schools.
The confirmation of Sweet and Smith gives UNC seven four star recruits in the class of 2015. Three of those are on the defensive side(two DL and one LB) and two are offensive linemen. Along with recent signee Jalen Dalton, UNC is making headway in recruiting areas of need in the first cycle with scholarship limitations lifted.
