Tyler Cavanaugh announced on Twitter that he has transferred to George Washington. The former Wake Forest forward chose the Colonials over Butler and Dayton. Cavanaugh averaged 8.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game last season, and he was expected to be a strong contributor for Wake Forest in Danny Manning's first season.
Excited to join the buff and blue! I am a Colonial! #GW

Last season George Washington finished 24-9, including 11-5 in Atlantic 10 play. GW was named a 9 seed and lost to Memphis 71-66 in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament. George Washington is coached by Mike Lonergan, who was the first person to offer Tyler Cavanaugh a scholarship when Tyler was in high school. The Colonials have a trio of rising juniors in Patricio Garino, Kevin Larsen and Joe McDonald, who should all form a strong team in 2015.
Tyler stated that he wanted to go to a place who had a chance to make the NCAA Tournament, and George Washington has a good chance to do so in 2015-2016. We wish Tyler the best of luck at George Washington.
