BYU big man transfer Noah Waterman committed to Louisville Saturday morning. He becomes the 12th scholarship player on Pat Kelsey’s first Cardinal roster for the 2024-25 season.
Waterman, a 6’11 center, started all but one game for BYU last season. He finished the year with averages of 9.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for a Cougar team that earned a No. 5 seed in the NCAA tournament. Waterman shot 45.7 percent from the field and 37.0 percent from behind the three-point line.
Like recent U of L addition Kasean Pryor, Waterman is a true pick-and-pop threat on the offensive end, and a guy whose versatile offensive skill set will allow Louisville to play five out when they have the ball in their hands.
If there was any concern about Pryor coming in with a big head because of the NIL package he received, the addition of Waterman should alleviate that. There’s now an experienced starter from a power conference program who has a similar skill set and can go head-to-head with him on a daily basis, and who will absolutely compete with him for quality minutes.
What a week for Pat Kelsey.
U of L now has just one available scholarship remaining for the upcoming season.
