It's official. The ACC Basketball Tournament will be played at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY in 2017 and 2018. A press conference is expected on Wednesday to make it official-official.
The ACCT will be back in Greensboro in 2015 and then transition north when it's played in Washington D.C. in 2016.
The Atlantic-10, which annually holds its post-season tourney at the Barclays, will find a new home for those two seasons but will return in the years that follow. That either means the ACCT will rotate back down South at that point or the focus will be on getting into Madison Square Garden, which will surely be sick of hosting Providence - Creighton games by then.
They might not like the move in North Carolina but it's a huge plus for the Syracuse Orange and proof the ACC is committed to acting like a big boy. Moving the tournament to huge media markets like D.C and NYC means the conference isn't afraid to step onto the big stage.
Now I'll head back to Twitter and watch ACC folks complain about the food options that'll be available in Brooklyn. As when the rumors came out the firs time, they will be complaining about THE FOOD OPTIONS IN NEW YORK CITY. It's fantastic.
