GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Three Virginia Tech student-athletes – including brothers Tremaine Edmunds and Terrell Edmunds – have been recognized as ACC Football Players of the Week as the Hokies swept the defensive awards.
Tremaine Edmunds earned ACC Linebacker of the Week honors for his play in the Hokies’ 37-16 win over Miami, while Terrell Edmunds was voted the Defensive Back of the Week. They are the first brothers to be recognized as ACC Football Players of the Week during the same week of a season. Virginia Tech’s Woody Baron was named the Defensive Lineman of the Week.
Syracuse had two players honored following its 28-20 win over Boston College as quarterback Eric Dungey repeated as the ACC Offensive Back of the Week and Amba Etta-Tawo was named the Receiver of the Week. Etta-Tawo joined Dungey in being recognized for the second time this season.
North Carolina’s Tommy Hatton was named the Offensive Lineman and Co-Rookie of the Week for his play in the Tar Heels’ 35-14 win at Virginia. Dungey’s passing total was the second-highest single-game mark in school history. His 488 yards of offense also rank second in Syracuse’s single-game record book. It was Dungey’s sixth 300-yard passing game of 2016, matching the Syracuse single-season record, and the second time this year he has completed better than 80 percent of his passes. Through just eight games, Dungey already ranks third in Syracuse single-season history for most completions (224), second in yards (2,631) and is tied for 10th in touchdown passes (15).
OFFENSIVE LINEMAN/CO-ROOKIE – Tommy Hatton, North Carolina, Fr.-r, G, 6-3, 290, Glen Rock, N.J.

Hatton led an offensive line unit that paved the way for Elijah Hood to rush for 107 yards on 16 carries (6.7 yards per carry) and T.J. Logan 61 yards on 10 carries (a 6.1 yards per carry average). The Tar Heels posted 488 yards of total offense against the Cavaliers.

That included a one-handed grab that went for a 68-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to help secure the win. Etta-Tawo is the fourth player in Orange history to post a 1,000-yard receiving season. He has 1,074 yards through eight games and needs 57 more yards to set a new Syracuse single-season record for receiving yardage. The Boston College game was Etta-Tawo’s sixth 100-yard receiving game of 2016, equaling the Orange season record shared by Rob Moore (1989) and Marvin Harrison (1995).
