On the heels of a commitment from stretch 4 Matthew Hurt, the Blue Devils garnered their second commitment in 4 days and their 5th in the 2019 class with the addition of 6'5, 180lb Cassius Stanley.
Stanley is the 29th ranked prospect according to ESPN and 28th according to 247sports. Out of Sierra Canyon High School, the same that produces former Blue Devil phenom Marvin Bagley, Stanley brings a level of athleticism missing from next seasons squad. He brings a bounce and dynamism to the Blue Devil backcourt.
The Blue Devils got in late on Stanley's recruitment but made up ground quickly with a visit and an offer. While predominantly known for his ability to jump out of the gym, Stanley has an emerging jumpshot that continues to improve. If he can become consistent in the mid-range out to 3 point range he becomes a truly elite prospect. Stanley joins Wendell Moore, Boogie Ellis, Vernon Carey jr. and Matthew Hurt and should take Duke (if you are into such meaningless stats) to the number 1 ranked recruiting class. More importantly it solidifies what should be Coach K's deepest team in many years and a good mix of veterans and new blood.
