The Eagles open as a bit of a surprising favorite over Wake Forest
Boston College opened as a 2-3 point favorite on Sunday over Wake Forest in #therivalry. Depending on your website/betting site of choice the opening line varied from 2, to 2.5, to as high as 3 points in favor of the Eagles.
The line has been bet down to a consensus 1.5 according to VegasInsider, which is not surprising given the advanced numbers thus far. Sagarin has Wake Forest as a 2.5 point favorite (this accounts for home/road game).
The Football Study Hall projections will be out tomorrow, which is my “go-to” site for in-depth statistical lines, but the pre-season line had Wake Forest -2.4 (56%), which is more in line with Sagarin.
It would not surprise me at all if this line is bet down to a “pick-’em” by game time, or goes off with Boston College -1.
Regardless of where you look, this game is slated to be a close affair.
From an over/under standpoint, this game comes in at 43, which is the lowest O/U of the week by far in college football. The Iowa-Iowa State game has an O/U of 48, which is the second lowest total I could find. These rivalry games just seem to bring out the best in the defenses.
Based on line and O/U, Vegas started it at a 24-21 Boston College victory. As with the games in years past, this should be a thrilling affair between two high-powered defense and mediocre at best, to atrocious at worst offense.
I can’t wait!
