Freshman guard Khameron Davis announced on Friday that he will remain with Pitt after previously requesting his release from the program in March. Davis was one of nine Pitt players to make such a request after the firing of former head coach Kevin Stallings.
Davis shared his decision on Twitter, affirming his confidence in recently appointed Panthers head coach Jeff Capel and noting that he’s “ready to go to work.”

In his first season with the Panthers, Davis gained a reputation as one of the team’s top defenders. His offensive contributions were less notable, as he averaged 4.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists over 32 games with the team. With that said, he also proved to be one of the team’s better three-point shooters, as he converted on 37.1 percent of his treys.
With Davis’ announcement, Capel now has confirmation that three players from last year’s team will return, as Shamiel Stevenson and Jared Wilson-Frame both previously revealed their intent to remain with the team after the new coach was hired in late March.
