The redshirt freshman QB has been dismissed for violating team rules
Redshirt Freshman QB Kyle Kearns has been dismissed from the Wake Forest football team for violating team rules.
Wake Forest QB Kyle Kearns dismissed from the team due to violation of team rules. Played in 5 games for Deacs in 2016, starting 1. #wral

Kearns saw action in 4 games last season, most notably starting against Clemson and playing the whole 2nd half in the place of an injured John Wolford in the Military Bowl. He threw for 206 yards and completed 13-35 passes in the 2016 season. Kearns was rated as a 4-star recruit and the 12th best pocket passer in the 2015 recruiting class by ESPN.
While this is certainly surprising news, Wake Forest does have enough depth at the quarterback position to withstand this loss. The Deacs still have John Wolford (Sr.), Kendall Hinton (Jr, hopefully a RS Jr), Jamie Newman (RS FR), and Trayvone Bowers(Fr), who will be redshirt for the 2017 season on the roster at QB. Obviously Kearns’ dismissal moves Jamie Newman into the 3rd string role with Hinton and Wolford likely battling it out for the starting job.
How do you feel about this dismissal?
