Qadree Ollison has big day at Pitt scrimmage

Pitt held another closed scrimmage this spring (and in light of the snow on the ground and my charcoal grill remaining firmly parked in my sunroom, I use that term loosely) on Saturday and while the media couldn't view it, there are stats that tell us it was a real thing.

The Pitt News' Jeremy Tepper gave us the rundown on Twitter.

Having a good day on offense was Qadree Ollison. He had six rushes for 31 yards and two touchdowns, and also hauled in two passes for 51 yards, including a 47-yarder. The running back situation is going to be an interesting one to watch, obviously, with James Conner expected to play this year. Ollison is coming off a season where he was the starter for most of the year and one has to assume he's 'the guy' for now.

Freshman Chawntez Moss was used quite a bit on offense with seven carries for 20 yards and a team-high three receptions for 49 yards. Also in the backfield, Darrin Hall had six touches (12 yards) and Rachid Ibrahim, making his way back after missing all of last season due to injury, had five (19 yards). Aside from Ollison's two touchdowns, the only other offensive score was a 6-yard reception by local walk-on tight end DeAndre Schifino.

And just because people love quarterback numbers, here are those:

Nathan Peterman: 6-10 for 129 yards and one interception
Manny Stocker: 3-6 for 16 yards
Adam Bertke: 3-3 for 52 yards and a touchdown
Ben DiNucci: 0-4 for zero yards
Ryan Adzima: 1-1 for seven yards

Defensively, it was a good day for the linebackers. One guy that apparently stood out was newly-converted linebacker Elijah Zeise. Zeise was recently moved to linebacker from wide receiver and was second on the team with four tackles and had one for a loss. Linebacker Matt Galambos had two of the team's 13 tackles for a loss and 11 others recorded the rest. In addition, linebacker Mike Caprara picked up the team's lone interception. Galambos also added a sack as did linebackers Saleem Brightwell and Jim Medure.

Defensive back Jay Stocker led the team with six tackles and Ejuan Price/Dewayne Hendrix also combined for a sack.

Overall, you can't take too much away here without film and media first-hand accounts. But this at least gives you some idea of who's contributing this spring.
