Have you ever wondered where you can find those old ACC games? Sure you can find some of them on YouTube, but there’s quite a few you can’t find. The ACC used to have many of the games at http://vault.theacc.com/. That site is no longer up. The reason may be that Raycom Sports has gotten the company Avid to deliver the ACC Media Library as reported by TV Technology. Below are some highlights.
Raycom Sports has chosen Avid’s Media Central platform to streamline the production and management of digital assets associated with its NCAA Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports footage archive
Raycom Sports is making the move to Media Central from Avid to accelerate and simplify the provision of digital assets from its vast ACC media library to ESPN’s new ACC Network, starting in 2019.
this media library also includes 60-70 years of historical ACC footage that needs to be digitized, as quickly and efficiently as possible, to make it easier to search, access, archive and monetize.
I had wondered just how much Raycom would be part of the ACC Network. The article doesn’t state if Raycom was paid for these historical games. My guess is that Raycom still has a role in the ACC Network, and will still be more or less a partner to ESPN and ACC even after the network begins.
At least ACC fans know there will be historical ACC content available again in the near future.
