Simi Shittu cut his list down to 10 teams on Sunday and the Tar Heels made the cut.
It’s still relatively early in the recruiting process for class of 2018 power forward Simi Shittu.
But on Sunday, he provided an update as he cut down his list of schools to just 10.
The 10 schools on the five-star forward’s list are expected to be cut down again to five or less soon.
For UNC, it’s good news as they made the list:

Joining the Tar Heels are Kentucky, Arizona, Vanderbilt, New Mexico, Oregon, Arizona State, UCONN, Notre Dame and South Carolina on the list. UNC and Notre Dame represent the only ACC programs.
Shittu is a top 10 player in the 2018 class and the No. 2 ranked power forward in the class.
The Tar Heels got a late jump in his recruiting as they offered him just 12 days ago. But that didn’t matter as they landed in his list.
The list comes just a few days after Shittu commented on the schools that were recruiting him the hardest. He had some interesting comments about UNC, calling it a “three-and-done” program but did praise them for winning the national championship.
As for visits to the programs, Shittu told Scout’s Evan Daniels that he is going to wait a month or two and cut down his list to five. Then from there he will start taking some visits.
If UNC can make the cut for the top 5, expect Shittu to be on campus this Fall or Winter for a visit.
He also went on to say he doesn’t know when he will announce, depending on his visits it could come early or late.
The Kentucky Wildcats are the rumored favorites to land him and 247 Sports’ Crystal Ball currently favors them at 50 percent.
