Jones was charged after an altercation in New York City last weekend.
Wake Forest basketball assistant coach Jamill Jones has been charged with assault after punching a man in Queens, NY, last weekend per the New York Post. The man later passed away as a result of his injuries.
Jamill Jones — an assistant coach at the ACC basketball program — allegedly slugged Boca Raton resident Sabor Szabo in the head early Sunday morning after Szabo was apparently drunk and banging on cars in Long Island City, according to law enforcement sources.
Szabo — in town for his stepsister’s wedding — was leaving his brother’s LIC hotel and looking for the ride he had called, his family claimed.
Jones joined the Wake Forest staff in 2017 after stints at UCF, VCU, and Florida Gulf Coast. He was hired last August as a recruiting specialist.
We will update this story as more developments come out.
