Wake Forest received unfortunate news today when they learned that Johnny Garcia suffered a torn ACL during Saturday's practice. The school released that an MRI performed later in the day confirmed what the injury was, and he is expected to miss the entire season.
The redshirt senior was expected to be a solid contributor to the defensive line this season after he had playing in all 12 games last year. Garcia was standing and observing practice today with a brace, but little did I know he had torn his ACL two days earlier. Garcia previously suffered his ACL as a true freshman in 2010.
Johnny had a very good spring and finished the spring game with 5 tackles, including an 11-yard tackle for loss. I would now expect Zeek Rodney to be relied upon to make a bigger impact as a true freshman.
We are thinking of Johnny and wish him a speedy recovery from this injury.
