The Deacs add Northern Arizona guard to the 2018-2019 roster
Wake Forest has landed graduate transfer guard Torry Johnson from Northern Arizona per Les Johns.
BREAKING: Northern Arizona grad student guard Torry Johnson will transfer to Wake Forest. Wrote a bit about Johnson last week. https://t.co/wq0LiOCY6a

Johnson played in 30 games for the Lumberjacks last season, averaging a team high 11.5 points in 27 minutes per game. While he shot just 38% from the field, he averaged 5.1 free throw attempts per game and shot 75% from the stripe. With around 70% of his shots coming from inside the 3-point line, I think its safe to assume that Johnson is more of a driver than a deep range shooter.
Johnson finished the season with an offensive rating of 94.4 and a defensive rating of 113.6, which, on the surface, isn’t the best in the world. However, seeing that the Lumberjacks finished the season 5-27 while scoring just 65.6 points per game (330th) and giving up 78.5 points per game (311th), its hard to imagine that those stats are too indicative of who he is as a player.
With the departures of Rich Washington, Keyshawn Woods, and potentially Bryant Crawford, adding depth at the guard position was a must for the Deacs.
