As much as I want to start this post talking about Duke's issues, first you have to give Syracuse a ton of credit for going to Cameron and winning 64-62. The backcourt of Trevor Cooney and Michael Gbinije made big plays down the stretch and Tyler Roberson was phenomenal on the glass. Few players have captivated me by their ability to rebound like Dennis Rodman did, but Roberson is approaching that status at the collegiate level. Roberson finished the night with 14 points and 20 rebounds.
As for Duke, the Blue Devils dropped their 3rd consecutive game and file me as one that isn't concerned. Blue Devils fans should look back no further than last year when Duke was blown out in consecutive games and they turned it around just fine. This season, there are weaknesses, defensive rebounding, inconsistent guard play, inability to defend on the perimeter, etc. I see solutions for most of those on the horizon, and Amile Jefferson is certainly a big piece of that. The other solution which is inevitable is time. Duke is a young team and its easy to forget that with inexperience comes in consistency. Give this Duke team a month and they'll be just fine.
Tonight, we have two games on the schedule as Virginia gets a quick turnaround hosting the red hot Clemson Tigers and Pitt hosts NC State.
