UNC has hired legendary NFL Head Coach and 6-Time Super Bowl winner Bill Belicheck. When it comes to coaching, Belicheck is probably on the Mt. Rushmore of football coaches.
That said when he was hired, it was met with skepticism in some circles. Bill Belicheck doesn’t have any college coaching experience. How will he handle recruiting, NIL, and 18-22 year olds? Those are fair questions, but there is an unmistakable truth. Bill Belichick brings instant publicity and lots of it.
When you are a university that is more known for its men’s basketball team, any publicity is good. That is the same for the ACC as a conference. Any publicity is good publicity.
Thursday, @accnetwork will provide comprehensive coverage of Bill Belichick’s introductory @UNCFootball press conference

ESPN has multi-network coverage now of @UNCFootball‘s Bill Belichick introductory press conference:

Sports radio was talking about it this morning. ESPN Sportscenter had it as one of their lead stories.
This is the kind of story that puts UNC front center in the sports news feed, and no matter what you think of the hire that’s not a bad thing for the Tar Heels or the ACC.
Can you imagine the media days for football in the summer? Having Belicheck is going to raise the media profile of everything related to UNC and ACC Football.
I liken it to the media bump Deion Sanders gave Colorado and the Pac 12 last, and even into this year for the Buffs and Big 12. Of course, Sanders also started winning, and Belicheck will have to do that in rather short order at Chapel Hill.
