Just a day after receiving a commitment from Kennesaw State star Adrian Wooley, Pat Kelsey locked up another one of the most highly-touted players in the transfer portal.
Xavier guard Ryan Conwell, a Third Team All-Big East selection last season, committed to Louisville following a visit to Floyd Street on Tuesday. Conwell averaged 16.8 ppg and shot 41.2 percent from three for a Musketeer team that made the NCAA Tournament and defeated Texas in the First Four.
Conwell was expected by many to follow head coach Sean Miller to Texas. Others expected him to commit to Indiana during a visit to Bloomington last weekend.
Instead, he’s a Cardinal.
Louisville might have the most stacked backcourt in the country next year with top-10 recruit Mikel Brown, Kennesaw State transfer Adrian Wooley, and Ryan Conwell, one of the best shooter/scorers in the portal. Three super dynamic guards heading Louisville way. https://t.co/5RikqqK6Sx

Louisville will have one of the best backcourts in the country with Mikel Brown, Ryan Conwell and Adrian Wooley. Cards should be Top 10 (or higher) in WTE Top 25s coming out next week https://t.co/IidaKhmt75

A 6’4 native of Indianapolis, Conwell’s skills were on full display during the Big East Tournament quarterfinals when he connected on 7-of-11 from three and scored a career-high 38 points in Xavier’s 89-87 loss to Marquette. He also scored 34 points in a huge regular season win over Villanova.
At the very least, no team in the country is going to touch this backcourt when it comes to lefty outside shooting.
We are off and running, folks.
