Former Pitt signee Bryce Golden decommitted from the program shortly after news broke that former head coach Kevin Stallings had been dismissed by the university back in March. For a while, it seemed as if he might reconsider his decision, but that no longer appears to be the case, as he indicated in a Twitter post Monday night that Pitt was out of the running.
In the brief post, Golden included a photo of himself and the logos of Wichita State, UConn, Georgetown, Syracuse, Illinois and Butler with the message, “Blessings in disguise.”

The 6’9” forward out of St. James School in Sharpsburg, Maryland, is considered a three-star prospect, according to Rivals and 247Sports, but ESPN has him pegged as a four-star recruit. He was considered the centerpiece of the 2018 Pitt recruiting class assembled by Stallings, which also included junior college guard Danya Kingsby of the College of Southern Idaho.
Kingsby also reopened his recruitment after Stallings was fired, and there haven’t been any notable developments on that front since his initial announcement.
Despite missing out on Golden, Pitt is not without frontcourt options, as it also got some good news on Monday night from freshman center Terrell Brown, who revealed that he will be returning to the program after previously requesting his release in March.
Samson George and Peace Ilegomah also remain in the fold, but Kene Chukwuka and Ryan Luther have yet to make announcements about their potential returns.
