The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets won a hard-fought game on the road at Chapel Hill over Mack Brown and the North Carolina Tar Heels, 41-34. Running back Jamal Haynes provided heroics for the Yellow Jackets as he answered a late-game-tying field goal by the Tar Heels with a 68-yard game-winning touchdown run with less than 20 seconds to go in the game. The Heels battled back and tied the game after trailing by 10 points if the 4th quarter, but the Jackets avoided overtime with the big run by Haynes. For the game Haynes rushed the ball 19 times for 170 yards and 2 scores. Quarterback Haynes King didn't throw much in the win but ran the ball 11 times for 107 yards and 2 rushing scores of his own. Jacolby Criswell and Omarion Hampton played well as the Heels mounted the comeback. Criswell completed 17-31 passes for 282 total yards and with 2 rushing touchdowns and a passing score while Hampton ran the ball 18 times for 137 yards in the loss.
