In a bit of a surprising move, five-star shooting guard Isaiah Whitehead will apparently make his decision on a college today. Whitehead has offers from a ton of major schools, but his decision will come down to Pitt, Seton Hall, Indiana, Minnesota, and St. John's per his Twitter account.
Pitt, meantime, has a long tradition of bringing in players from New York City under coach Jamie Dixon and assistant Barry Rohrssen.
"Pitt is a great place also," he said. "He’s had success with a lot of New York guards. They win 26 games a season."
Without a recruit for 2014 so far, Whitehead would instantly give whatever class Jamie Dixon puts together a headliner. He's currently ranked as the 14th best player in the nation, per Rivals.
As I wrote about last week, Jamie Dixon and Barry Rohrssen apparently visited him recently and gave him the impression he could play right away. If Whitehead ended up at Pitt, you can bet Slice will get a lot of the credit.
We'll see where this goes. Pitt has been a bit under the radar with him so I'm not sure I'd declare them the favorite here. But when you're in a kid's top five, anything can happen.
