There was a buzz yesterday at camp involving some special teams work..... for the quarterback?
Wake Forest starting QB Kendall Hinton is not eligible to play due to suspension for the first three games of the 2018 season due to broken team rules. While extremely disappointing still, even as camp is underway, there is no point in crying over spilled milk.
Head Coach Dave Clawson announced today that quarterback Kendall Hinton and tight end Thomas Cole have been suspended for the first three games of the 2018 season due to a violation of team rules.

Coach Clawson will undoubtedly coach a QB up and have a gameplan that will maximize the team’s strength (most likely leaning on the strong offensive line, S/O Beef Boys).
That being said, there was a stir in Winston-Salem with Hinton making plays in camp as a punt and kick returner.
Kendall Hinton is working as a kick and punt returner, and Clawson said as spring develops they could experiment with Hinton at other positions.

Let’s not get carried away. This is likely just a testament to Hinton’s athletic ability and the staff wanting to develop some of the strengths that he possesses. Hinton also did impress with his arm yesterday, with two long touchdown throws to Steven Claude and Jaquarii Roberson.
Also relevant: Hinton threw two bombs for touchdowns today. First one to Steven Claude, second to Jaquarii Roberson. Both of them dimes.

All in all, I don’t think this is something to worry about or even consider that would happen. More than likely, just seeing if Hinton could do it in a pinch while also looking for the staff to find options to protect Greg Dortch’s workload as much as possible, are the likely reasons for the move.
Hinton will be missed in the first three games of the 2018 season without a doubt. His dual-threat abilities as the signal-caller are legitimate and will be hard to recreate with the other quarterbacks on the roster. But, you don’t have to worry about Hinton, the punt/kick-returner, any time soon.
