1) Kendall Fuller, Virginia Tech
Kendall Fuller is one of those rare talents. Think about it he was one of the country’s best defensive backs as a true freshman. He was named the ACC’s defensive rookie of the year, 2nd Team All-ACC and made multiple Freshman All-America teams. He started from day one, and finished the year with 58 tackles and 6 interceptions. Fuller was a 5 star recruit that lived up to the hype. There are already whispers that he has the potential to be the best defensive player in Virginia Tech history. That’s high praise for someone at defensive tradition rich Virginia Tech. Kendall Fuller has first team All-America potential.
2) P.J. Williams, Florida State
You would think the talented Kendall Fuller would be far and away the best corner in the ACC, but Florida State’s P.J. Williams is right there and some may argue Williams should be number one on this list. When you are named the BCS National Championship’s Defensive MVP, you know your a special player. NFL Draft Scout ranks him as the Number One draftable CB in 2016. By the way Fuller was Number One draftable CB for 2017. I kind of doubt either makes it to their senior season. Williams is fast, physical, and good.
3) Ronald Darby, Florida State
We are just half way through the ridiculous talent CB talent at Florida State and Virginia Tech. Who was the 2012 ACC Defensive Rookie of the year? It’s Florida State’s Ronald Darby. That NFL draft list that had P.J. Williams Number One? Ronald Darby is Number Three. Darby has legit sub 4.4 speed, and has excellent cover skills. Good luck trying to throw on Florida State this year.
4) Brandon Facyson, Virginia Tech
There’s a reason Athlon Sports listed FSU and Virginia Tech at 1 and 2, as having the best pair of corners in college football. I have Brandon Facyson fourth on this list and he made a number of freshman All-American teams himself. He was 3rd Team All-ACC selection as a freshman. He had 5 interceptions and 8 pass breakups last season. At 6 foot 2 Facyson has the size NFL scout covet. Ok Who has the better pair of corners Florida State or Virginia Tech? You can’t go wrong with either.
5) Kevin Johnson, Wake Forest
The talent at Defensive Back in the ACC doesn’t stop at Florida State and Virginia Tech, Wake Forest has a pretty solid cornerback too in Kevin Johnson. He ranked second in the ACC last year with 1.25 passes defended in an honorable mention All-ACC season. He’s considered one of the top senior CB’s in the country, and has next level ability.
