Good morning, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Fans.
So happy college football is back!!! The ACC had a really good weekend with Clemson’s win over Auburn – and Florida State’s win over Mississippi.
And that brings us to ACC week two – the game of the week – the Battle at Bristol – college football’s most highly attended game ever in history of the sport will be on September 10, 2016 at 8 PM EST on ABC, when Virginia Tech Hokies take on the Tennessee Volunteers. Before the season started, I was skeptical that the Hokies could compete with the Volunteers, but I have a much different viewpoint on that now.
Why can Virginia Tech defeat Tennessee?
1.) Virginia Tech has the advantage on the sideline. Bud Foster’s defense is going to wreak some havoc. I agree with Kyle Tucker who tweeted this out during Tennessee’s game with App State:
Bud Foster’s VT defense will sack Dobbs 8-10 times next week if this is how the Vols are gonna play up front, with no vertical threat.

2.) Virginia Tech has the advantage on the sideline. Justin Fuente hasn’t shown the entire offense yet – and why would he.
3.) Virginia Tech has the advantage on the sideline. Virginia Tech can key on stopping the run because Tennessee does not have a legitimate downfield threat (h/t @KyleTucker_AJC).
4.) Virginia Tech has the advantage on the sideline. Recently, we had Matt Zemek (@MattZemek) of @TodaysUSports on the @AllSportsDACC podcast who mentioned that he wasn’t all that impressed with Vols offensive coordinator, who has been out of the college game for a while.
5.) The Volunteers really aren’t as good as people think they are. (h/t @CFBZ)
6.) No one is giving Virginia Tech a chance. The Hokies love the underdog role.
Can’t wait until Saturday
