For a second straight season, UNC did not have a player taken in the NFL Draft.
To be clear, UNC has some NFL Draft talent on the roster it all happens to be returning next season. OG Landon Turner was the only legitimate draft prospect to leave the team this year. The draft drought over the past two seasons is likely a byproduct of the recruiting transition from Butch Davis/Everett Withers to Larry Fedora which included an NCAA cloud dampening Fedora's ability to bring in talent. Fedora appears to be on solid footing and there is plenty of talent, especially offensive skill players that will be eligible next year.
As for this year, UNC did have six players signed as free agents by teams following the draft. They were:
QB Marquise Williams - Minnesota
LB Jeff Schoettmer - New Orleans
OG Landon Turner - New Orleans
LB Shakel Rashad - Houston
WR Quinshad Davis - Detroit
RB Romar Morris - New York Jets
Davis heading to Detroit is interesting for a couple of reasons. One he could end up rejoining former teammate Eric Ebron. The other is Detroit is where Davis broke his leg at the end of UNC's less than inspiring bowl performance to end the 2014 season.
And should any NCSU fans you know make hay about their team having three players drafted be sure to remind them they have as many draft picks this season as Dave Doeren has ACC wins during his first two seasons.
