Here are three takeaways from SU's win Sunday over Boston College.
Syracuse reeled off its fifth consecutive victory and eighth in nine tries on Sunday, topping Boston College, 75-61, at Conte Forum. SU moved to 18-8 overall and 8-5 in the ACC with the win, while the Eagles stayed winless in the conference.
Here are three takeaways from the Orange's win:
Tyler Lydon is capable of that
Sure, it was against Boston College, but it's difficult not to be impressed with how Tyler Lydon played on Sunday afternoon. He went 8-of-12 from the field and 2-of-4 from 3-point range for a season-high 20 points, adding six rebounds in the process.
He was particularly effective in the second half, when he went 4-of-5 from the field -- 2-of-2 from deep -- and registered 12 of his points. Beginning at the 12:11 mark of the half, he scored 10 points in a stretch spanning two minutes and 19 seconds, helping stretch the Orange's lead from four to 15.
The game also marked the first time this season that Lydon has shot better than 50% from the field in an away contest.
Gbinije does it again
Michael Gbinije was supremely efficient once again on Sunday, scoring 17 points on just eight shots and making four of his six attempts from 3-point range. He's now scored in double figures in each of the Orange's 26 games this season, and he still has an effective field goal percentage of 57.2 on the season.
After poor offensive showings in each of Syracuse's first four ACC games -- all four of which SU lost -- Gbinije has turned things around on that end of the floor, and the Orange's season turnaround has coincided with that.
In the last nine games, Gbinije is averaging 17.1 points per contest while shooting 54.6% from the field and a prolific 47.6% (20-of-42) from 3-point range.
Taking care of the ball
Boston College is a bad basketball team, that much is clear. But the Eagles have been pretty good at forcing turnovers this season; they force turnovers on 19.2% of possessions, which ranks sixth in the ACC.
So it's relatively impressive that the Orange turned the ball over just eight times on Sunday. That tied Notre Dame for the least turnovers an ACC opponent has committed against Boston College this season. Meanwhile, Duke, Florida State and Pittsburgh each committed at least 16 turnovers in their respective contests with the Eagles.
