Wednesday's ACC action went about as expected while there was a big upset elsewhere in college basketball once again. The Miami Hurricanes answered my call for a blowout win to confirm they are deserving of a high seed, possibly a #1, in the NCAA Tournament. I mentioned yesterday that after a few games where Miami had struggled there would be no reason for struggles at home versus Virginia Tech. While Miami was even with the Hokies 10 minutes in, they opened up the game up in the final 10 minutes of the first half and won easily 76-58.
NC State also handled Boston College rather easily. The Wolfpack did have one hiccup late in the first half where they lost focus, but for the most part NC State gave a workmanlike performance in their 82-64 win over the Eagles.
Maryland went to Georgia Tech with a must win game in front of them and suffered a damaging 78-68 loss to Georgia Tech.
Tonight in ACC action, Clemson hosts UNC at 7 PM and Duke travels to Virginia at 9 PM. To say that Virginia needs this win is an understatement.
