The ACC regular season is over and the last game of the regular season was quite the interesting one. Maryland held as much as a 17 point lead and led by 13 at halftime, but even then you felt like Virginia had a chance. I even tweeted at half that Virginia was going to win the game. The Cavaliers did in fact go on to win in overtime, thanks in large part to a Maryland offense that was non-existent the last 30 minutes of the game. With the win Virginia claimed the 4th seed and a coveted first round bye in the ACC tournament, leaving NC State with the 5th seed.
Wake Forest also picked up a 90-79 win over Virginia Tech on Sunday. While the Hokies lost, Erick Green scored 35 points and broke Virginia Tech's single season scoring record. With the Wake Forest win, the Demon Deacons clinched a 10th seed leaving Virginia Tech with the 12th seed in the ACC tourney.
