Good evening, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans.
Wolfies, I’ll be brief – congratulations on your win vs. #1 seed Villanova University.
@hokiesmash I’m a terrible historian but I’d have to say yes. Young team, picked 10th just beat a #1 seed start to finish

A monster win. Then I asked another NC State site friend who the leading scorer is at NC State (hard for me at times to keep up on all ACC teams).
@hokiesmash Lacey, then Turner. Very close 15.6 to 13.1. — CLT_Wolf (@NCSU_99_17_24) March 22, 2015
This, of course, is even bigger – because Ralston Turner had only four points in this game – and is NC State’s best three point shooter. Here are some other stats courtesy of @scacchoops (see the SCACCHoops game states link here) and NCAA.com: Villanova was held to 68 points (it averages almost 77 points per game), Villanova shot 32.14% from three-point land (about 7% less than its per game average – and many of those threes were taken far beyond NBA range with a defender’s hand in its face – not easy three-point shots to get), shot 31.15% from the field overall (I’ll be fair – some of this was great defense by NC State – other shots were dumb shots by Villanova, and others were just missed looks – pressure clearly got to the 1 seed), and was out-rebounded in a big way by NC State at a 45-32 clip. I guess playing Seton Hall twice during the year doesn’t really prepare you for the ACC team picked 10th in the league’s media poll. NC State, on the other hand, shot 45.28% from the field – when you exceed your opponent’s field goal percentage by 13%, you’re generally gonna win.
Good Luck NC State. Villanova has a history of losing the eventual National Champion.

Was that a Mea culpa from SBNation’s Villnova blog? Trying to head off some trolling tweets from NC State fans?
Congratulations to all of the NC State fans on one of the biggest wins in quite some time for Wolfpack Nation!
