Top prospect Zamir White in Chapel Hill just weeks before announcing college decision
Multiple sources have confirmed that class of 2018 prospect Zamir White is in Chapel Hill, North Carolina this weekend, less than six weeks prior to his scheduled college announcement.
White, a 6-foot-1, 220-pound running back from Laurinburg, North Carolina, arrived at the University of North Carolina on Friday afternoon with former high school teammate and current UNC linebacker Johnathan Smith. According to CarolinaBlue, the two will leave campus together on Sunday afternoon.
It’s the second time in as many weeks that White has been on the North Carolina campus, as he traveled to Chapel Hill last weekend for an unofficial visit with the Tar Heels’ coaching staff.
After the team’s recent mass exodus at the running back position that included T.J. Logan and Elijah Hood being selected in the NFL Draft as well as the graduation of Khris Francis, the Tar Heels are young and inexperienced in the offensive backfield.
Freshman halfbacks Antwuan Branch and Michael Carter, sophomores Jordan Brown and Johnathon Sutton and graduate transfer Stanton Truitt currently make up the UNC ground attack. That leaves plenty of room for a player of White’s caliber to come in and make an immediate impact.
White is the top-ranked running back in his class and the No. 6 overall prospect in 2018 according to the 247Sports Composite.
He is choosing between Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State and North Carolina and is set to make his announcement on Tuesday, July 27th.
