Virginia Tech vs. Tennessee at Bristol is great for football

Virginia Tech fans – it’s finally here!!!  Let’s cut to the chase here:

For years, we have wanted to play Tennessee in a regular season match up – this is something that should have happened a long time time ago (schools are 233 miles apart)!!!

We should be playing an entire series over six years with Tennessee – but this is certainly a start!!

Ralph D. Russo (on Twitter at @RalphDRussoAP), the National College Football Writer for the Associated Press, fired this tweet out today:

This could be the most widely attended college football game of all time (could set a record for attendance) – the Bristol Motor Speedway holds between 150,000 – 160,000 people – and you can be damned sure that Virginia Tech and Tennessee football fans will fill that facility to capacity. If you recall, the last time Virginia Tech played Tennessee, the Hokies crashed the Vols in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl by the score of  37-14!!!  Video courtesy of Ryan Foster (on Twitter at @HokieTapes)!!

It would be one more in a continuing series of intriguing match-ups between the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the Southeastern Conference. College football needs a shot in the arm like this – more national contests – with huge implications – and this is one of those great opportunities for both teams!! Hopefully we hear more news soon!! And we all agree with Adam Kramer (@KegsNEggs):

It’s always a great day to be a Hokie – and a fan of the ACC!!
